"A view from the "other side..."

My parents did not stretch my leg nor did they set me up to endure countless trips to the doctor nor did they allow enducing of pain. They simply raised me just as they did my sister and always told me that I could do anything that anyone else could do. I believed them then and I believe them now, 25 years later.

I wear an artifical leg over what I call my "stump." I played softball, marched in the band, showed pigs at the local county fair and had a healthy social life. All of this because of whom my wonderful parents raised me to be. I am successful with my career, I am married and will be starting a family of my own soon. I could not ask for a better life nor would I change anything.

I am who I am today because of the obstacles that learned to overcome. I do not look at anything as "impossible" rather I see everything as a challenge that I will figure out how to conquer.

So, with my short story I hope that you can show others out there that PFFD is not, at all, not even close to the :end of teh world." For me, it was a blessing, and again I must point out that I wouldn't change a thing!
